Because they're ads and commercials and not ideas.
That's my biggest peeve—that advertising thinks it has to be advertising.
The clients say "i love it. perfect. just add 3 more 'primary' messages" and every one at the agency says "sure thing".

Because we let it.
There's a bell curve on everything we create. Most music, film, art, food, etc is mediocre, only a small percentage of anything is great.
Mediocre ads seem to suck more because advertising isn't inherently enjoyable. It interrupts things we enjoy with messages we don't want.
