No. You may not choose your own nickname.

Does it count if imaginary friends gave you the nickname?

I've always wanted a cool nickname. The closest I got was my porn star name, Bootsy Brookwood.

DJs do it all the time.

giving yourself a nickname - douchy.
giving yourself a dj nickname - xtra douchy
giving yourself a dj nickname when you're not even a dj - superdouche.

Well played, Mr. Moore. But you have also proven that as long as one's nickname is first revealed as a URL, it's not as douchie. Or is is douchey.

With DJs, their nickname is a part of their brand. They have to control that to position themselves because the whole allure to DJs are their alter egos / nicknames.

Besides DJs and people who need their nicknames as their brand to get work, what does it mean if you don't have a nickname.

At least one that isn't a reduction of your full name. Taking the f and the r out of Jennifer doesn't count as a nickname. (My parents did choose that though, not me. So maybe?) Boring.

Bonus:
You can't make your own E True Hollywood Story and you can't write your own Wikipedia page.

So are you supposed to just be DJ Somebody Please Give Me a Nickname until someone decides what you should be called?

Jenny hit it right on the nail. That's like starting a company and not calling it anything.

I agree with with the non-DJ DJ nickname, however.

my nickname is biscuits. it's a touching story, really- one day i thought i was pregnant, and, as it turned out, i was just getting fat. (hooray!) the only person i mentioned this to, decided to berate me about being a biscuit-eater, which was later shortened to "biscuits," and is now utilized regularly by about a dozen people that think it's cute, and don't know that they are calling me, "hey, fatty." secretly, i like it.
