If by "be of your time" you mean to be in the present and to not try and be anything than what you are right now, I wholeheartedly agree.

However, if you are saying that I should be a time-telling instrument or something, that's completely ludicrous.

When it comes to the world of advertising, one needs to have their finger on the pulse of popular culture. Not only that, but they must also have an understanding and appreciation of history.

Pop culture is not just limited to celebrity gossip nor is history just about kings and wars. Everything has a culture built around it and has a history to it.

Know what's going on and how it came to be. Then you can address it properly.
