I believe my environment is essential to my process and productivity, especially the parts that I can't control. Entirely. For me, the most important environmental influence is the weather. If it is sunny with blue skies, I am immediately more creative and productive. Add in a great temperature (75+) and I'm unstoppable. Therefore, I can control it a little, which is why I think I will always live in a city with lots of sunshine and warm weather. Atlanta is not cutting it for me lately, but I have lots of lamps.
Your environment is huge when it comes to your productivity. Before I dropped out of undergrad I would spend my afternoons studying at TIPSY TAILS a fantastic, adult themed club near campus. I don't know if it was the amazing buffet they offered, the constant lap dances I received or just my inability to buckle down and study that kept me from really focusing.
If I had it to do over again I think I would choose a library to study, or simply a place without titties.
